About Joe

Second Generation Construction, United States Army Veteran, Small Business Owner, Union Carpenter Superintendent

Joe DelGrande’s foundation in construction began long before his professional career. Raised on a farm in rural Hibbing, Minnesota, he grew up understanding the value of hard work, accountability, and craftsmanship. His father, a carpenter and cabinet maker, introduced him early to the discipline and pride that come from building things the right way. Construction has never been just a job; it has been a lifelong calling.

Service and Leadership

In 1985, Joe enlisted in the United States Army. Following Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was stationed in Germany and later served during the Gulf War in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. These experiences reinforced his commitment to discipline, strategic planning, teamwork, and mission execution under pressure. He was honorably discharged in 1991.

The leadership principles developed during his military service continue to shape his approach to construction management today: preparation, accountability, clear communication, and performance under demanding conditions.

Military Leadership Courses Served:

  • PLDC - Primary Leadership Development Course

  • BNCOC - Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course

Entrepreneurial Experience

After returning home, Joe launched his own construction company specializing in custom homes, remodels, decks, and exterior projects. As a small business owner, he led teams of up to ten employees and managed every aspect of operations, including:

  • Estimating and procurement

  • Scheduling and project execution

  • Financial management and cash flow

  • Client communication

  • Project close-out and warranty oversight

Owning and operating a construction business through multiple economic cycles gave Joe a deep understanding of risk management, client relationships, and operational efficiency.

This progression provided comprehensive experience in:

  • Daily jobsite leadership and coordination

  • Supervision of union craft labor

  • Trade partner collaboration

  • Schedule management and production planning

  • Adherence to design specifications and quality standards

Joe has also served as President of Local 606 Carpenters Union and as a voting delegate at the International Carpenters Union level — further reinforcing his leadership within the industry.
